Torque & Gear Reduction

Torque describes rotational force, and it changes as it passes through gears. A gearbox with a reduction ratio multiplies input torque while lowering output speed — the foundation of low-end pulling power in trucks and low gears.

Tire Aspect Ratio

The aspect ratio is sidewall height expressed as a percentage of tread width. Lower-profile tires (smaller aspect ratio) improve steering response but transmit more road harshness, a key trade-off in performance fitments.

Power-to-Weight Ratio

Horsepower alone doesn’t determine how fast a car feels — weight matters just as much. Power-to-weight ratio, usually expressed in hp per ton or kW per kg, is the metric racers actually optimize for.

Gear Ratio & Final Drive

Gear ratio ties engine RPM to wheel speed through tire diameter. Numerically higher final-drive ratios improve acceleration and towing at the cost of top speed and fuel economy on the highway.

Air-Fuel Ratio (AFR)

Compression Ratio
